Target Audience: People interested in visiting Stonehenge
‘Stonehenge’ is a response to the ISTD brief ‘Mapping the World’ that asked participants to typographically express, communicate and identify an intriguing insight that aids our understanding of the world. This could be accomplished by conducting a study on origins and historical developments. It might focus on a map's cultural, political, social, scientific, or geographical aspects.
Stonehenge is a location of mystery. There are never-ending questions about how it was built, who, and why it was built. It is a mystery of the lives lived 5,000 years ago on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. This project explores different theories surrounding Stonehenge such as the first know theory by Geoffrey of Monmouth, how the stones came to be at the site of Stonehenge. Stonehenge as a Druidical monument and a mapping of the winter and summer solstices. They outline how Stonehenge has become a monument of the time, symbolising its current day’s beliefs and views. Stonehenge became what they needed it to be.
Geoffrey of Monmouth had a theory.
Stonehenge was transported from a faraway land with the help of Merlin, the great wizard.
Could Stonehenge have been a monument of worship?
Or was it simply for the mapping of the winter and summer Solstices.
I guess we'll never know. Stonehenge will forever be our prehistoric mystery.
